New Face to Keep Pace

Center fund raising.

The Packard Center couldn’t exist without its cadre of selfless volunteers creatively bolstering ALS research. “But coordinating events with an organization like the Center is sometimes complicated,” says Amy Welch, “especially the first time around.”

Since July, when Welch became our first community liaison, she’s served as the grass- roots “go-to” person, coordinating fund raising throughout the country. She’s also begun a many-faceted outreach program to raise awareness of ALS and Center research—not to mention the new Center-based volunteer group she’s organized. The latter is sure to help with a signature annual fund-raising event Welch envisions.

Well-suited for the job, Welch is a communications professional with more than 10 years of experience in nonprofit and corporate marketing and public relations. As a licensed social worker, she’s had plenty of experience helping people with disabilities and easing families through the health care system.

“My goal,” says Welch, “is to provide the best possible support to those who give the Center so much of themselves and bring us closer to a cure.”

For information about becoming a volunteer, or for help with an upcoming event, please contact Amy Welch at 410-735-7681 or awelch5@jhmi.edu.
