Great Chef's Event

Perhaps it was coincidence that Matthias Radits, the executive chef at
The Breakers -- the same Palm Beach hotel that served as venue for Jeffrey
Rothstein's talk -- had been diagnosed with ALS a half-year earlier. Fellow
employees of the beloved chef were searching for something positive to
do. When they heard Rothstein's talk, an idea took root.
In April, "The Great Chef's Event for a Great Chef" featured
dishes from 35 restaurants and drew 450 of Radits' friends to what organizer
Kevin Walters described unabashedly as "a love fest."
It amassed $65,000 for the Center's work.
