January 7, 2010, will mark the 6th Annual A Midwinter Night’s Dream Gala hosted at Oheka Castle in Northport, New York. Students at Northport High School became involved in ALS after two of their teachers were diagnosed with the disease. Wanting to become proactive in the fight against ALS, they organized an annual gala and to date have raised more than $1 million for ALS organizations. A Midwinter Night’s Dream has evolved into more than just a fundraiser. Besides raising funds and awareness for ALS, the students have begun their quest to find a cure. Every summer a few students participate in ALS research labs across the country including the Packard Center.
