John Gearhart, Packard Center Scientist, Honored By Major Medical Research Organization

John Gearhart, noted for discovering one of the most basic types of human stem cell and for his seemingly tireless advocacy of stem cell research worldwide, was honored today by the Coalition for the Advancement of Medical Research (CAMR).

The Packard Center scientist, who was an advisor to the Center before becoming a grantee this year, accepted CAMR's highest award in a recent ceremony hosted by Christopher Reeve at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

CAMR is an organization of national disease advocacy groups, such as ALSA, major research-supporting universities and private research organizations, which support stem cell and related research with therapy as a goal. The Packard Center is also a member of CAMR.

The Packard Center for ALS Research at Johns Hopkins congratulates Dr. Gearhart on his award and is proud to support his stem cell work to advance the search for an ALS cure.
