For Packard’s Newest – The Sky’s the Limit

Kirsten Heck joined the Packard Center to focus on corporate partnerships and expanding annual giving.

Earlier this year, Kirsten Heck joined the Packard Center as the new Associate Director for Development. In her newly created position, Heck’s focus will include two equally important roles that will increase gifts to the Center and promote visibility and awareness.

At Packard, her talents and experience will be put to the test working with the Office of Medical Annual Giving helping to expand the Packard Center’s annual fund solicitation program. Annual giving is building the pipeline for new and prospective major gifts to the Packard Center, says Heck. "It’s an important tool that can help a donor expand their philanthropy efforts," she said.

Heck is no stranger to Johns Hopkins University. For the past five years, she has held several positions within the Fund for Johns Hopkins, the University’s fundraising division. Heck began her career in the School of Medicine Alumni Relations Office where she managed the Johns Hopkins Medical and Surgical Association and helped to implement its dues program. From there she moved to the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center where she focused her talents on managing the Center’s stewardship program, including donor correspondence, gift processing and coordinating events.

"What really attracted me to the Packard Center was the people I met," Heck continued. "They are so passionate about what they do and about how critical the need for research funding around ALS really was – it was very appealing and I knew I wanted to be part of this team."

Heck will also focus her time developing corporate partnerships around the Center’s signature event, the Fiesta 5K. "Bringing new corporate partners to this event is crucial to its success," says Heck. "And since it’s a new program I am confident in its success – really the sky’s the limit."
