Stephen A. Wakefield Joins Center for ALS
Research Board of Governors
The
Center for ALS Research is pleased to announce that Stephen A. Wakefield
of Atlanta, Georgia, has agreed to serve as a member of the Board of Governors
from November 2001 to October 2004.
Currently vice president and senior counsel of Southern Company, the
United States' largest producer of electricity, Mr. Wakefield joined that
company as general counsel in 1997 after an extensive career as a corporate
executive and a government and private-sector attorney specializing in
energy issues. He was appointed by Presidents Nixon and George H.W. Bush
to subcabinet positions in their administrations. He has served as chairman
of the future studies and strategic planning committees of the Houston
Chamber of Commerce. He is a member of the University of Texas M.D. Anderson
Cancer Center's board of visitors.
